Panaji: A criminal wanted in a robbery case in Rajasthan, Pavan Solanki, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was nabbed in Panaji on Thursday during a joint operation conducted by the Panaji police and the Sardarpura police from Rajasthan.
Police said the accused had fled Rajasthan
after committing the crime. Later, it came to light that the accused was hiding in Goa.
Based on technical surveillance, police nabbed the accused in the city. The accused is said to have visited an offshore casino following which he was apprehended.
Referring to the robbery case in Rajasthan, the police said the accused had, along with his associates, assaulted one person, robbed lacks of rupees from his office and fled the state.
The accused has been handed over to the Sardarpura police for further investigation.
Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is an accused in the singer Sidhu Moosewala murder case. He is currently lodged in Punjab’s Bathinda jail.
Bishnoi recently issued a fresh threat to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, saying if the movie star does not apologise over the Chinkara hunting episode, “his ego will be smashed”. Bishnoi said: “Salman has harmed our society. If he does not apologise by coming to Bikaner’s Nokha Dham, then his ego will be smashed.”
The Bishnoi community is known as guardians of Chinkara.
Meanwhile, Punjab police on Thursday claimed that an interview of Bishnoi by a private news channel was not recorded inside the Bathinda jail or any other prison of the state.
