Prayagraj: The district administration has moved ahead with the ambitious project pertaining to the construction of 65km of ring road in the Sangam city. The first phase of the project, which costs around Rs 7,048 crore, has picked up pace with disbursement of compensation to those whose land has been acquired for the project. The ambitious project of the state government bears significance in view of ensuring smooth flow of traffic during the Maha Kumbh-2025, when the authorities are expecting a crowd of around 40 crore.
The first phase of the ring road comprising 29.8km is to be constructed in the next two years after acquiring 195hectare of land, including both government and private.
According to project director NHAI, Pankaj Mishra: “The 29.8 km stretch of the ring road would begin from Dandupur (Rewa Road) and join at toll plaza at Sahason (NH19), covering an area of 194 hectare of land. For the construction of this ring road, a 3.2km long six-lane bridge is also to be constructed over the river Ganga, starting from Arail (Naini) till Adhawa (Jhunsi). The government would be paying a compensation of around Rs 500 crore for acquiring the land, of which around Rs 300 crore would be given to the private landowners. Apart from this, another six-lane bridge is also being constructed across the Ganga, which will connect Gohri in Phaphamau area to Beli village and which will be 9.8 km long. Its construction is also going on fast, NHAI officials said.
Mishra added that the 65km long ring road to be built at a cost of Rs 7,048 crore is progressing as per schedule. Sources said in the first phase of this project, land of more than 5,000 farmers is being acquired. As of now, Rs 81 crore compensation has been released to these farmers. The remaining amount of compensation will also be transferred to the accounts of all the farmers within the next two months.
