NOIDA: A 33kv independent power connection will be provided to Noida’s District Hospital in Sector 39. The hospital, which is currently sourcing power from the Sector 18 feeder, will be able to operate at full capacity once it gets the connection.
Currently, a few OPDs are operational in the building and the remaining departments are operating out of the old hospital building in Sector 30. A fund of Rs 4.41 crore has been sanctioned for the first phase of the work.
Overall Rs 9 crore will be needed to set up the connection. Work is expected to begin in April and culminate by the end of May, officials said.
“We have been asked to make a separate connection line for District Hospital. It will be a 33Kv independent feeder which will supply power to the hospital. We will commence work as soon as the money is transferred,” said Rajeev Mohan, chief engineer of Noida power department PVVNL.
Currently, District Hospital is partially operating out of its old building in Sector 30 due to the lack of an independent power supply for the new building. Dr Rajendra Kumar, chief medical superintendent (CMS) of District Hospital, said, “We have heavy, expensive equipment like the MRI, CT scan and X-ray machines, which cannot be put at risk in case of a power failure. For this, we need a dedicated power connection for the hospital. This is one reason why we are running non-essential OPDs like skin and ENT from the new building in Sector 39.”
