West Bengal CM claims to have attracted Rs 1.14 lakh cr investment in MSME sector

Kolkata, Mar 16 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in West Bengal have managed to draw investment worth Rs 1.14 lakh crore in current times, said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday.
She noted that the MSME sector through this will create jobs for over 41 lakh people.
Speaking during a meeting of the Industrial Promotional Board (IPB) at Nabanna in Kolkata on Wednesday, she said, “Over Rs 1.14 lakh crore have been invested in the MSME sector of West Bengal. As a result, 41 lakh people will get new jobs. This is a big deal.”
The meeting was attended by West Bengal Chief Secretary HK Dwivedi and secretaries of other state departments.
The CM also announced that the Bengal Global Business Summit will be held in the state capital on November 21-23.
In the run-up to the three-day event, delegations of state government officials will visit Mumbai, Jaipur, Chennai and Bengaluru to seek investment.
She also informed that a MoU will be signed on March 21, 2023 to open World Trade Centre’s office in Kolkata.
“The upcoming office will be built on 35 lakh square feet of land and the project will create 30,000 jobs. One and a half thousand crore rupees are being invested,” she said. (KNN Bureau)
