UPDATE (March 16, 2023): Rochester police have arrested a man accused of fatally shooting another inside a car last week on Depew Street.

Anthony Stevenson-Sutton., 20, was shot to death inside his vehicle, said Capt. Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department. The second man who was shot - Sincere Vazquez, 19 - was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, all felonies.

Vazquez is accused of getting into the car and shooting Stevenson-Sutton with one of two handguns he was allegedly carrying at the time, Umbrino said. The two knew one another and had arranged to meet on Depew Street Friday night, Umbrino said.

Umbrino said he could not say who shot Vazquez or how he was shot, other than to share that "it all occurred on Depew Street and at the same time." Police continue to investigate the incident.

Vazquez remains hospitalized at Strong Memorial Hospital and will be arraigned in his hospital bed at a later date, Umbrino said.

ORIGINAL STORY (March 13, 2023): Two men were shot - one fatally - while in a parked car in southwest Friday night, according to Rochester police.

Officers were called to Depew Street around 11:25 p.m. Friday, and found a man in his 20s in a parked car. The man was shot multiple times in his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene, said Lt. Michael Perkowski of the Rochester Police Department.

While at the scene, officers were dispatched to a home nearby on Chili Avenue, where they found a second shooting victim from the vehicle, a male in his late teens, who was shot several times in the lower body, he said. The teen suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police did not identify either man.

Both shooting victims were inside the parked car when someone shot at the car, striking both males, according to police. It was not immediately known how the pair knew one another or why they were on Depew Street, Perkowski said.

The incident marked Rochester's 10th homicide of 2023.
