GURGAON: Gearing up for summers, the health department on Wednesday directed all government health facilities in the city to set up dedicated wards for heat stroke patients and ORS booths at primary centres.
“The wards at government health centres will be set up by this week. The wards will have IV fluids, lifesaving medicines, ice and ice-cold water. Also, the centres have been directed to utilise an AC or cooler room as heat stroke room,” said Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurgaon.
Usually from March, the region witnesses heatwave conditions. Extreme temperatures increase the risk of illnesses such as heat stroke, summer depression and dehydration, particularly among children, office goers, construction and industrial workers, and elderly.
Moreover, the health department urged people to avoid going out in the sun during a heatwave, especially between noon and 3pm.
Meanwhile, chief secretary Sanjeev Kaushal too reviewed heatwave preparedness in all 22 districts in Haryana on Wednesday.
