Man who took poison over marriage refusal dies after 3 days

Ludhiana: Three days after he poisoned himself over his girlfriend refusing to marry him, a 25-year-old man from Shimlapuri died at a hospital here on Wednesday.
In the suicide note he had left behind at the time he took poison, the deceased held his girlfriend responsibile as she refused to marry him. Deceased Rahul, police said, had been in a relationship with the woman for some time. ASI Jarnail Singh from Basant Park police post said Rahul had consumed poison on Monday and was rushed to a hospital by his family. Doctors tried to save his life, but he could not survive. Police are verifying if the suicide note was written by Rahul before he took the extreme step.
In other news, after a 25-year-old man committed suicide by jumping into the Satluj river in Kasabad village near here on Tuesday, Salem Tabri police booked two businessmen for abetment to suicide. It is alleged that the accused were harassing the victim for returning borrowed money.
