Two pilots were killed on Thursday after an Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashed near the Mandala hills area of Arunachal Pradesh. The incident took place at around 9:15 am and a search operation was promptly launched for the pilots. 

The Arunachal Pradesh Police said that search and rescue teams of the Army SSB and police undertook operations amidst low visibility and no phone signal.

“As of now, no photos are available as the area has no signal. Weather today is extremely foggy and visibility is 5 meters," they had said.

“An Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter flying an operational sortie near Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh was reported to have lost contact with the ATC at around 09:15am today. It is reported to have crashed near Mandala, West of Bomdila. Search parties have been launched," an earlier update from Lt Col Mahendra Rawat from the PRO Defence Guwahati had said.
