Ranchi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried out searches at houses of eight accused in West Singhbhum in a case related to CPI (Maoist) attack on former MLA Gurucharan Nayak at Jhilrua school playground under Goilkera police station in January 2022.
Two policemen were killed and another was injured in the incident. The Maoists also looted their arms and ammunition. A press statement by NIA said during the searches, it has seized several Maoists posters, digital devices and various other incriminating documents, including one related to an illegal Kolhan state.
The NIA said, “The accused persons whose premises were searched are active members of Maoist support network and they were involved in providing logistic support to the armed cadres of the Maoist team which attacked the former MLA and the policemen deployed to guard him.”
The NIA took over the investigation of the case in July 2022.
