The police have identified the deceased as Pravin Bhanudas Atole, 28, his father Bhanudas Anandrao Atole, 55, Prakash Sopan Atole, 35, and Bapurao Piraji Gavhane, 55.
A massive blaze involving multiple blasts of fuel and gas tanks was reported in the Dhayari area of Pune on Tuesday evening. A cluster of workshops for automobile repair and painting jobs that run from tin sheds in the Ganesh Nagar area of Dhayari were gutted in the incident. No casualties were reported as the fire was brought under control by fire tenders after a three-hour-long operation.
In other news, Pune will likely witness partly cloudy skies, and very light to light rains throughout the day, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively.

The Pune city police have launched a probe after three members of a family including a child were found dead in their house in the Aundh area of Pune Wednesday.
The police have identified the deceased as Sudipto Ganguly, 44; his wife Priyanka, 40; and their son Tanishk, 8. The three were found dead at their apartment in the DP Road area of Aundh. “Primary probe points to the man taking his own life after killing his wife and child. Our probe is on,” said an officer from the Pune police. Read more
Maharashtra has reported two fatalities suspected to be caused by influenza.
One of them, a 74-year-old man, died of the H3N2 sub-type while the other victim was infected by COVID-19 as well as the influenza virus, state Health Minister Tanaji Sawant told the Assembly on Wednesday.
He said state health machinery has been put on alert with 361 cases of influenza infections being reported in the state, and guidelines will be issued in the next two days. (PTI)

The Pune city police Tuesday launched a probe into a case in which a Lieutenant rank Navy officer posted at the National Defence Academy (NDA) was cheated of Rs 53,000 by cybercriminals on the pretext of sale of a Playstation 5 Gaming Console on an online marketplace.

A day after urging the Union government to explore the tourism potential in the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule expressed concern over pollution in the water bodies supplying drinking water to citizens in her constituency and said that it was having an “adverse impact” on the health of citizens.
Sule represents the Baramati constituency in the Lok Sabha. The water needs of the citizens in the constituency are met mainly through the Khadakwasla and Ujjani dams.
“The water in Khadakwasla dam is used to meet drinking water supply needs of citizens of Pune city. However, it is getting polluted in a big way leading to adverse impact on health of citizens. Also, the pollution of water in Ujjani dam is taking place and there is urgent need of taking necessary measures to stop it,” Sule informed Union Environment Minister Bhupinder Yadav. Read More
The Pune city police Tuesday arrested a man who is allegedly a Pakistani national and has been illegally residing in India since 2015. The police said the accused, identified as Muhammad Aman Ansari, 22, and currently living in Bhavani Peth, also procured an Indian passport by submitting fake documents and used it for travelling from Pune to Dubai.
Police constable Kedar Jadhav of the Pakistani Residents Verification Cell of Pune City Police’s special branch lodged the First Information Report (FIR) in this case at the Khadak police station on Tuesday. The FIR was lodged against Ansari under sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery), and 471 of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Foreigners Act, 1946, and the Passports Act. Read More
A fire was reported in a laboratory at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Pune’s Pashan area Tuesday night. No casualties were reported in the incident as the fire was brought under control within minutes.
Officials from the Pashan station of Pune Municipal Corporation’s fire brigade said the fire was reported at around 9:30 pm inside the room housing the Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) unit of the ‘H-Cross’ physics laboratory of IISER.
“By the time we reached after receiving the call, the authorities had initiated various steps in response to the fire. We brought the fire under control within minutes. The fire had led to an accumulation of a lot of smoke. No casualties were reported because the facility vacated as the fire started,” said an officer from Pashan fire station.
