The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) report (Hindi and English versions) on the Multi-State Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2022 have been submitted in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.

Confirming the news to Indian Cooperative, Lok Sabha MP and one of the members of JPC Nishikant Dubey said, “Yes, the JPC report on MSCS Amendment Bill, 2022, has been submitted in the Lok Sabha.”

Meanwhile, amid ruckus in both the houses of Parliament over the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi remarks in London and other issues, the proceedings have faced disruptions on Wednesday and the both houses of Parliament got adjourned to meet again on 16th March 2023.

It bears recall that the JPC was constituted at the demand of the Opposition. Tasked to review the MSCS (Amendment) Bill 2022 it is headed by CP Joshi and members from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

Indian Cooperative reported in these columns that the last meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee was held on 13th March 2023 in which the report was finalized. The agenda of the meeting was to consider and adopt its draft report on the bill.

The Bill aims to make the governance of multi-State Cooperative societies more democratic, transparent and accountable, provisions for the setting up of the Cooperative Election Authority, Cooperative Information Officer, Cooperative Ombudsman, etc. have been proposed in the Bill.

Indian Cooperative would bring the details of recommendations to its readers as soon as the draft is made public. Stay glued to www.indiancooperative.com
