Number of chicken pox cases rising in city

Kanpur: Various diseases including chicken pox are expanding their areas in the city due to difference in day and night temperature . Children, old people are coming in the grip of chicken pox . This infection usually stays in the body for two weeks thereafter ill person recovers.
Chief medical officer Alok Ranjan said that chicken pox is an infectious disease. If patient was in the grip of fever then he should be treated .According to Deputy District Immunization Officer Dr. Jasbir Singh, chicken pox is one of the common diseases occurring in summer, which is also called ‘Badi Maata’ in common language. It spreads through coughing, sneezing, skin contact or from a pregnant woman to her child.
It starts with a red rash on the body which gradually turns into blisters filled with water. Along with this, the victim also gets mild fever. 90% of the total patients of chicken-pox are small children. Children under the age of 2 are most at risk of this infection he added.
The deputy District Immunization officer said that to prevent this, Varicella vaccine is given in the 15th month of birth. This vaccine is not available in the government health system but this vaccine could be administered in private hospitals. With this it is possible to avoid this disease for life. Its price is 1500 to 2500 rupees. Senior pediatrician Shiv Kumar said that chicken pox was caused by Varicella gaster virus. This disease affects both children and adults. It spreads from winter to summer. The person or child whose immunity is weak, only they fall in its grip. If the victim does not get timely treatment, he may be at risk of brain fever.
