During a meeting on Tuesday, the farmer leaders decided to support the party that looks after the welfare of the farmers.
The parties must release a manifesto for the farmers and should promise to fulfil them, said Sugarcane Farmers’ Association state president Kurbur Shanthakumar.
Except farmers, the MLAs, ministers, employees have fixed monthly returns. The government must ensure minimum returns to the farmer, he said.
He also asked the state government to take measures to control wild-animal menace in the region.
Speaking about the upcoming assembly elections, Shanthakumar said the agendas of farmers should be discussed and farmers’ loan must be waived off.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha chief Badagalapura Nagendra said that the agendas of farmers should be discussed and the farmers loan must be waived off by political parties.
The state government must introduce a minimum support price and labourers must get a minimum of 200 days work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Nagendra said.
