The CBI chargesheet indicted Lalu and his family members under charges of criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. All the accused have been summoned by the special CBI court on Wednesday. The CBI has alleged that 12 persons were appointed as "substitutes" in six different zones of railway during the period when Lalu was railway minister from 2004 to 2009 in lieu of seven parcels of land.
The CBI inquiry prima facie indicated that Lalu as railway minister obtained pecuniary advantage in the name of his family members in the form of land for appointment of substitutes on Group-D posts in different railway zones.
