CREDAI Mangaluru welcomes single window for construction

MANGALURU: CREDAI Mangaluru has welcomed the decision of Dakshina Kannada DC Ravi Kumar M R on introducing single-window mechanism to get clearances from various departments for the construction of buildings in the district. Pushparaj Jain, president of CREDAI Mangaluru, said the new system will help common people, as well as the real estate sector.
The process of obtaining clearances from MCC, Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (Muda), fire and emergency department, pollution control board, CRZ authorities, and many other departments will be made easy through the system, said Jain.
He told reporters on Tuesday that the association welcomes the decision of the DC with regard to clearances to be obtained for construction of houses and buildings. “The DC has directed that the building licence should be issued within 30 days, occupancy certificate within eight days and spot inspection in seven days.
Due to delay in obtaining clearances from various departments, the whole process of constructions gets delayed. CREDAI had submitted a memorandum to the state government and the district administration in this regard,” he said.
Further, the DC also has directed the urban local bodies to issue deemed NoC if the construction work of a building was stalled due to lack of a clearance from any one of the department, Jain said, adding that delay in clearances cause financial loss.
In fact, an applicant has to obtain clearances from tvarious departments before submitting an application for building licence from an urban local body. This lengthy process was causing inordinate delay in the construction industry.
The DC has directed that a detailed report should be prepared to introduce a single window process in a phased manner. Further, the DC also has taken measures to simplify the process regarding an approval from the Muda for multi-storied buildings.
The DC has directed all local bodies including the MCC, city municipalities, town municipalities, town panchayats and GPs to take necessary steps to introduce a single window-system for constructions.
