9 labourers injured as makeshift shed collapses on them in Mangaluru

MANGALURU: As many as nine labourers sustained minor injuries after the temporary shed that they were living in at a construction site in Mangaluru North police limits, collapsed late on Monday evening. According to police, the mishap occurred at the Central market construction site.
Mangaluru Smart City Limited is taking up construction of the new Central Market Complex. Sources said the shed was located adjacent to the place where the land excavation took place, which probably led loosening of the soil below the shed. The labourers are learnt to be from North India and most of them were treated in the nearby hospital. Officials including police visited the spot.
