SURAT: They knew that their father may not be around to get their results, but this pair of gritty siblings didn’t let grief distract them from their responsibility of appearing in the board exams, 24 hours after they lost their father to prolonged illness.
On Tuesday, Bhumi, a student of class XII, and Krunal, a student of class X, was emotionally overwhelmed while stepping into the exam hall to appear in the first day of board exams, but were determined to fulfil their own purposes.
The two children were aware about the deteriorating health of their father Sahilesh Sidhdhapura (42), who was declared dead on Monday while undergoing treatment at New Civil Hospital (NCH). .
A resident of Kamrej Road, Sidhdhapura was admitted to the state hospital on March 8 following severe health complications.
Sidhdhpura, a carpenter, was under treatment for liver ailment for a long time and his condition worsened recently. “Both children were ready on time for the exam and we ensured that they reach the centre on time,” said their uncle, Hitesh Sidhdhapura, adding that the kids are prepared to appear in all the remaining papers as well.
As the family members were busy in the last rites, the children focused on their studies. While their exams were on, the family will follow various post-death rituals but have planned to give the siblings enough time to prepare for the exam.
“Being a son, Krunal will be performing various rituals after a few days. We are trying not to shift his focus from studies and exams, but as rituals are also important he will perform them in between the papers,” Hitesh added.
