Hubballi: The Gramdevate Utsava Samiti of Yallapur Oni, Desai Oni, has turned tech-savvy. It has adopted online money transfer system and launched an e-Hundi facility.
Gramdevate devotees can now contribute money through a QR code given by the samiti for the e-Hundi. The Samiti has printed a QR-Code on the brouchure for the Gramadevata reinstallation and Jatra Mahotsava to be held from March 18 to 22. Basavaraj Kundanhalli, president, Jatra Mahotsava of Yallapur Oni, Desai Oni said, “The youth committee of the area suggested us to go online for collection of donations for the Gramdevate temple. After discussing with the jatra committee and others, we decided to go for e-Hundi and approached the bank. The bank also provided us the QR code for a lesser fee.”
“Currently we have printed the QR code on more than 1,000 brochures printed for Jatra Mahotsava. We have also distributed them door-to-door to commercial establishments. “We have started receiving donations through the QR code from devotees and contributions range from Rs 11 to 1,001.,” he added.
Temple committee chairman Parvatappa Balagannavar said that when the committee members went to collect donations from people in the area, they suggested providing a QR code for money transfer. The technology helps collect donations, he said.
“It's a unique way of collecting donations for the temple’s betterment. Nowadays, many people are using various apps for digital transactions and providing a QR code will increase the donation amount too,” said Iranna, a devotee.
“By looking at the response that we are receiving through e-Hundi, we have decided to print the QR code of the e-Hundi on banners and place them in various parts of Hubballi and in Yallapur Oni and Desai Oni. Devotees will come in hundreds to the jatra mahotsava and for them it will be easy to contribute for the betterment of the Gramdevate temple through the QR-code,” said Kundanhalli.
