Pakyong, 15 March: OpenAI, the company responsible for creating ChatGPT, recently announced the release of their latest and most sophisticated large language model, GPT-4. This new version is even more advanced than its predecessor, GPT 3.5, and has the ability to generate and modify technical writing, as well as respond to both text and image inputs. While OpenAI describes GPT-4 as an interactive upgrade, it is also capable of handling more complex queries and is more dependable and imaginative compared to the previous version. Below is a comprehensive list of everyday applications powered by GPT-4.

Duolingo is a language-learning app with a user base of over 50 million learners. The company has integrated GPT-4 into two new features, “Role Play” and “Explain my Answer,” which are available exclusively through the Duolingo Max subscription tier. “Role Play” is an AI-powered conversation partner, while “Explain my Answer” breaks down language rules when a user makes a mistake. GPT-4 generates a response when the user clicks on “Explain my Answer,” allowing them to return to the lesson or get further explanation. Currently, these features are limited to Spanish and French, but Duolingo plans to support more languages in the future.

Be My Eyes is a Danish startup focused on creating technology to assist blind or visually impaired individuals. With the help of GPT-4, Be My Eyes has created a Virtual Volunteer for its app that can provide context and guidance to users, even generating point-by-point instructions to help them navigate the railway system. The app can also help visually impaired users navigate complex webpages like e-commerce and shopping websites. Be My Eyes is available for free on both Android and iOS.
Stripe is a payment gateway platform that uses GPT-4 to understand user businesses better and scan sites to get a summary of what they do. The updated model can easily understand user questions, highlight the important sections, summarize solutions, and even read detailed documentation. Stripe is also using GPT-4 to analyze Discord posts for suspicious accounts and identify coordinated attacks.

Khan Academy is a non-profit educational organization that provides video lessons to students. The organization has announced that it will be using GPT-4 for its AI-powered assistant, Khamingo, to help students contextualize the relevance of what they’re studying or teach specific points of computer programming. Khan Academy is available for free on both Android and iOS and has no in-app purchases or subscriptions.
