SURAT: Education department officials have requested the district collector and the police department to see that Metro work in the city is halted near the exam centres during the board exams that begin on Tuesday.
“We have requested the district collector office and the police to see that the Metro work near the exam centres stops during the exam time. We want to ensure that the students do not get disturbed because of the noise,” said Dipak Darji, district education officer of Surat.
Metro work is continuing across the city and many important roads are blocked because of this. Several internal roads are also blocked or heavily crowded due to diversions. At multiple locations, traffic jams are routine during peak hours on a normal day. During the board exams, the traffic is likely to increase further.
The city traffic police have made additional bandobast at strategic locations to maintain smooth flow of traffic as thousands of students will commute to the exam centres. Police will help students reach the exam centres if they are stuck in a traffic jam.
