Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi may appear before Delhi court on Wednesday
PATNA: RJD chief Lalu Prasad, his wife and former CM Rabri Devi and their eldest daughter Misa Bharti may appear in a special CBI court in New Delhi in the land-for-jobs in railways case on Wednesday. Rabri was sighted at Patna airport on Tuesday noon, but did not respond to queries by reporters.
“Lalu ji, Rabri ji and Misa ji are likely to appear in the special court in Delhi on Wednesday,” an RJD MLC and close aide of Lalu family told TOI on Tuesday.
The CBI filed chargesheet in October last in the case against Lalu, Rabri, Misa and 13 others under charges of criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. All the accused have been summoned by the special CBI court on Wednesday. The CBI has alleged that 12 persons were appointed as “substitutes” in six different zones of railway during the period when Lalu was railway minister from 2004 to 2009 in lieu of seven parcels of land.
The CBI inquiry prima facie indicated that Lalu as railway minister obtained pecuniary advantage in the name of his family members in the form of land for appointment of substitutes on Group-D posts in different railway zones.
The CBI questioned Rabri in the case at Patna on March 6 and Lalu at New Delhi the next day.
Tejashwi skips CBI summons
RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s younger son and Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav skipped CBI summons to appear at its headquarters in Delhi for a third consecutive time on Tuesday. Tejashwi earlier skipped the CBI summons on March 4 and March 11. Tejashwi had cited ailing health of his pregnant wife Rajshree Yadav as the reason for skipping the summons on March 11, when he was in Delhi. On Tuesday, he was at Patna and attended the Budget session. Former RJD MLA Bhola Yadav said Tejashwi has not been summoned in the land-for-jobs case. “This case pertains to an alleged shell firm being claimed by the CBI,” he said.
