Body found in furniture shop in Ghatampur area

Kanpur: Unidentified miscreants allegedly battered a carpenter to death at the furniture workshop in Ghatampur area of the district on Sunday night. Nasirullah, a native of Charbagh Lucknow, used to work at a furniture shop in Ghatampur area of the district with his friend Khalid. After work, he used to sleep in the furniture workshop with Khalid.
According to police, on Saturday, Nasirullah returned to Kanpur from Lucknow along with Khalid. “On Monday morning, his employer Raju Thakur informed the police that Nasirullah was lying in a pool of blood in the furniture workshop,” the police further said.
During preliminary investigations the police found Nasirullah dead with deep injuries on his head and face.
Co-worker Khalid was found to be missing from the workshop. Based on a complaint, the police have registered a case of murder and launched a hunt to trace the whereabouts of Khalid.
DCP South Salman Taj Patil said the police are scanning the footage CCTV cameras installed at the nearby shops. Few suspects have been picked up and their questioning is underway. “At the same time, the police have informed the family members of the deceased about the incident,” the DCP further said.
