Book of Konkani essays released

‘Dovornnem,’ a book of Konkani essays published by Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) was released recently by former chairperson of Canacona Municipal Council, current councillor and social worker at St. Tereza Parish hall, Canacona Simon Rebello, in the presence of Fr. Isidorio Dias, the author of the book Albert Jaques, and other dignitaries.  

The function was held at the author’s native place Chaudi, Canacona. In his address, the chief guest Simon Rebello stated, “We have to protect our Romi script, Konkani, and Goan culture for our future generations.”

The secretary, Fr. Myron welcomed the gathering and stressed upon the significant role the DKA is playing in uplifting the Romi Konkani literature.

Speaking about the book, former president of DKA, Vincy Quadros said, “The book is a collection of essays based on various themes, especially on society and religion. The writer depicts the village of Canacona through his various experiences, events and visits. The book also mirrors the life of the writer.”

Jaques lauded the efforts and thanked all those who helped him to come up as a writer and promised his support for protecting the Romi Konkani language.

President of DKA, Celso Fernandes, stressed upon the need of becoming DKA members in promoting Romi Konkani language and elevating the literary standard of the language.
