LUDHIANA: Candidates who were to appear for the Punjab State Teacher Ability Test on Sunday were shocked to learn about the cancellation of the exam, which will be re-conducted by GNDU, Amritsar.
Most of the candidates expressed helplessness over the situation.
Meanwhile, Punjab education minister Harjot Bains tweeted, “To maintain complete fairness in our examination process, a PS level probe has been ordered to look in to PSTET exam conducted by a third party with A++ NAAC grade i.e. GNDU. Accountability will be fixed and those found guilty will be booked for criminal negligence. Further, GNDU has regretted and will re-conduct the exam without any fees. In future, have ordered my department to have a suitable clause for compensation in the MOU's signed with third parties for compensation of the candidates in such a scenario Why should candidates suffer.”
On the other hand, candidate Manjeet Kaur said, “Candidates were told not to carry the question papers back home, still many candidates were able to take them back home. In SST exam, there were four options as answers and we had to choose one, but the right answer was already mentioned in bold.”
“We don’t know where the lapse took place, but hundreds of candidates are at the receiving end, who will again appear for the same test,” said another candidate, adding that her exam went off well but now she will have to appear for the same once again.
The test was conducted at over 21 centers in the district, and close to 10,000 candidates had appeared for it.
Another student, Harwinder Kaur, who appeared for the paper at GSSS PAU, added, “The initial confusion wasted almost 10 to 15 minutes of the student, which are very crucial in a 2.30-hour exam.”
