Ponda: Forest department officials have exposed an illegal pig slaughter taking place in Dharbandora area on Tuesday. Officials have found four pigs slaughtered while thirteen were found tied and kept illegally in a private property.
Forest officials detained two people, while around six of the gang are absconding. The forest officials said that they are not clear whether the pigs are wild boar.
As per information locals noticed the pig slaughter taking place and informed forest officials, following which a raid was conducted.
Forest official Narayan Prabhudesai said a raid was conducted and they found four pigs slaughtered while thirteen pigs were alive and tied in a private property. He said veterinary doctors also arrived at the spot and are verifying the case.
Migrant labourers found at the spot namely Manjunath Lamani and a woman Basava from Hubballi were arrested.
Meanwhile sources informed that there is a gang operating in Dharbandora area dealing in pork meat.
