Assam Class X general science exam cancelled after ‘paper leak’
Guwahati: Lakhs of students appearing for the general science paper in the Class X state boards in Assam on Monday were left disappointed in the morning after they came to know that the exam was cancelled at midnight following reports of a question paper leak.
A handwritten “model question paper” of general science was available with some candidates and the same went viral on social media on Sunday night.
Though the Board of Secondary Education Assam (Seba) did not confirm whether these questions exactly match with those printed in the original question paper, education minister Ranoj Pegu told the media that Seba got some clues that the paper has been leaked for which the exam was cancelled.
“The culprits will be booked. I had a discussion with the DGP and he assured me of conducting a thorough probe,” said Pegu.
“We have a belief that such news may create confusion in the minds of the candidates for which the examination (general science paper) has been cancelled,” read a notification by Seba controller of examinations NJ Sarmah.
The Seba has notified that the general science paper has been rescheduled to March 30. Also, the English examination that was cancelled at JR Higher Secondary School, Ganirgram, in Cachar district amid reports of rampant cheating earlier will now be held on March 28.
