PATNA: RJD leader and deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Monday rubbished the Enforcement Directorate (ED) claims that the land-for-railway-jobs scam was worth Rs600 crore and cash and gold jewellery worth crores of rupees had been recovered during the recent searches conducted on his as well as his sisters and other party leaders' premises in Delhi and other places of the country.
Narrating to the media outside Vidhan Sabha premises the raid on the Delhi house where his wife was living, Tejashwi claimed the investigating agency got nothing and challenged them to make the seizure list public.
He said continuous raids on places related to him and his family were repercussions to the Grand Alliance rally in Purnia as BJP knew it would be defeated in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
"They (ED) had finished their job in half an hour but continued to sit there without anything to do. We offered them snacks, and also meal. When we asked as to why they are not leaving the house, the officers said they are waiting for instructions from the top and would leave only after that. This is what they are doing," Tejashwi said.
"They (ED) got thenga (nothing) during the raids. I challenge them to make the seizure list public, otherwise I will do that. I think ED and CBI have got confused between Adani and I and they consider me identical to Adani. Instead of conducting raids at places where Rs 8000 crore scam was done or drugs were found, every other day they are conducting raids on our premises," he alleged.
"They (ED) conducted raids at places related to four of my sisters and their in-laws. They stooped so low that they got the ornament removed from the women folk and got them clicked," alleged the younger son and political heir of RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
The deputy CM said he was a real socialist and had the strength and conscience to face such raids and BJP's political vendetta. "When our government was formed, then only I had declared that such raids will take place. Even in 2017 they followed the same style. This time we challenged them in Purnia and they went mad," said Tejashwi. "They (BJP legislators) were shouting today. Even earlier they were shouting about a fake Tamil Nadu incident. Will they apologise now?" he asked.
