Man shoots wife, daughter dead over viral video in Uttar Pradesh

JHANSI: In a sensational double murder in Chitrakoot on Monday, a man allegedly fired on his minor daughter after seeing her with a man in a video on social media. In a bid to save the girl, her mother came in between and was hit by the bullet.
The man fired another bullet which hit the girl. While the mother died on the spot, the daughter succumbed at the district hospital.
The incident took place in a village falling under Bahil Purwa police station limits. Police said Nandkishore Tripathi, 40, has been living in the village along with his wife Pramila, 36, and two daughters aged 16 and 13 years.
His elder daughter Abha (name changed) had gone to her maternal uncle's house and had returned a couple of days ago. On Monday, the father-daughter duo had an altercation over a video of Abha with a man on social media. Outraged with this, Nandkishore fired on Abha from a handgun. On seeing this, Pramila came in between to save her, was hit by the bullet and died on the spot. An enraged Nandkishore fired another shot, hitting Abha who fell on the ground.
Gearing the gunshots, the neighbours gathered there and sent the mother-daughter duo to the district hospital where Pramila was declared brought dead while Abha succumbed during the treatment.
As per additional SP Chitrakoot, Chakrapani Tripathi, a case has been lodged against the accused under section 302 IPC while he is absconding.
"There was some tension brewing between the father and the daughter which is being investigated. Police teams have been sent to arrest him. The bodies have been sent for the post-mortem," he added.
