Oil prices edge lower as SVB collapse spooks financial markets
Oil prices slipped on Tuesday, extending the previous day's slide, as the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank startled equities markets and raised worries about a fresh financial crisis.Brent crude futures fell 9 cents to $80.68 a barrel by 0101 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures (WTI) dropped 16 cents to $74.64 a barrel. On Monday Brent fell to its lowest since early January, while WTI dropped to its lowest since December.
Asian shares extend losses as US banking worries persist
Asian shares declined Tuesday, as investors around the world continued to be rocked by worries about what's next to break, following the second- and third-largest bank failures in U.S. history.
SGX Nifty signals a positive start
Nifty futures on the Singapore Exchange traded 39 points, or 0.23 per cent, higher at 17,218, signaling that Dalal Street was headed for positive start on Tuesday.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was down 2.33 percent, or 649.86 points, to 27,183.10 nearly an hour into trade, while the broader Topix index lost 2.95 percent percent, or 58.95 points, to 1,942.04.

Sliding bank shares dragged Wall Street down on Monday with investors worried about contagion from the Silicon Valley Bank collapse, but trade was choppy and the Nasdaq composite actually ended higher as some sectors benefited from hopes the Federal Reserve could ease up on interest rates hikes.
Rupee falls 17 paise to close at 82.23 against US dollar on FII outflows
The rupee pared its initial gains to settle 17 paise down at 82.23 against the US dollar on Monday, tracking losses in the domestic equity market and unabated foreign fund outflow.

Bank stocks were among those worst affected despite analysts and brokerages saying that Indian banks are well-placed in a tight regulatory framework. While the Sensex ended 897 points lower at 58,238, Nifty ended just above the 17,150 mark.
