The PGA Tour's Valspar Championship is scheduled to be held from March 16 through March 19 at the Copperhead Course at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club in Tampa, Florida. The tournament has a purse of $8.1 million and features golfers including Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Sam Burns, and many others.
The Valspar Championship started in 2000 with John Huston lifting the first trophy of the year. Burns has defended his title for the last two years and is now all set to compete again in 2023.
Interestingly, Paul Casey also won the Valspar Championship for two consecutive years before losing to Burns in 2021. The tournament was canceled due to Covid in 2020.
Tiger Woods finished second in the tournament alongside Patrick Reed in 2018. However, he won't be participating this year due to his injury.
Rory McIlroy will also miss the Valspar championship as he has been focused on the Masters, which is scheduled for April.
It is important to note that the Players Championship winner, Scottie Scheffler, will also miss the tournament and so will Jon Rahm. Scheffler recently won the Players Championship and retained the World No.1 title.
