Youngsters rush to take on eve-teasers, assaulted in Kalyan

KALYAN: Two youngsters who rushed to rescue a girl from eve-teasing were assaulted by a youth and his seven friends in Kalyan.
Both the victims who suffered serious head and hand injuries are undergoing treatment at Rukminibai hospital here. The local policehave been accused of dragging their feet as the accused are allegedly supporters of a political leader.
Police allegedly initially only registered an assault-related case but later after media highlighted the issue they added a section related to molestation and arrested five, including a minor.
On Friday night, the 22-year-old victim was returning home from work. The complainant alleged that near her building a youth , who is on the run, started teasing her, and when she protested, started manhandling her.
