Mesa police ID man arrested in fight with 3 officers at Dutch Bros.
One officer involved in a fight with a man accused of trespassing will require surgery after the suspect squeezed the officer's hand so tight it broke, according to Mesa police.
Tegan Williams, 21, was booked into jail and remains in custody with a $100,000 bond while the three officers involved were hospitalized as a result of the incident at a Dutch Bros. in Mesa on Saturday.
Just before 8:45 a.m., officers responded to Dutch Bros. for a disturbance, according to Mesa Police Department spokesperson Brandi George.
"Officers learned that staff members told Williams to leave, and while they were speaking with staff, Williams returned," George said in an email.
Officers advised Williams that he was trespassing and needed to get off the property, but he refused, according to George.
One officer showed his taser, but Williams still refused to obey commands to leave the property, according to police. Officers then told Williams he was under arrest and began to take him into custody, as per a police report.
"Williams then grabbed and squeezed one officer’s hand so hard that it broke and will require surgery to repair," George said. "Williams kicked another officer who was seen to be unconscious. A third officer had a hand injury that required medical evaluation and an X-ray."
Williams was booked into jail and faced several charges including felony assault on law enforcement, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and trespassing.
