Shun negative thoughts and be positive, students advised
Mysuru: Commissioner of commercial taxes C Shikha on Sunday advised students to shun negative thoughts and focus on positivity to realize their desired goals and dreams.
She said that a positive frame of mind is crucial to be successful in competitive exams. She was speaking after inaugurating 15th Graduation Day organised by JSS College of Arts, Science and Commerce at its campus on Ooty road in the city.
The IAS officer said that aspirants of competitive exams and students must give top priority for advancement of knowledge.
“They must develop virtues of determination, dedication, diligence, perseverance and hard work to taste success while achieving their goals,” she said. She said that almost all great scientists and inventors, including Thomas Alva Edison, who invented the electric bulb, realised their dreams by sheer hard work and knowledge. The students must imbibe and inculcate the achievements of these great scientists to realise their dreams,” she said.
She said that almost all government employees right from village accountants to IAS officers work under tremendous pressure for the good of the society after passing out successfully. Students must take all their failures as stepping stones to success without giving up and hope to achieve their goals
Highlighting the importance of graduation day in students’ life, she asked girl students to give importance to higher education. She also said that women employees in the commercial taxes department are playing a crucial role in the record GST and tax collection.
Shikha also called upon students to use social media and other communication tools, scientific and technological applications for the betterment of their personality, career, profession and society.
Rank holders were felicitated on the occasion. Suttur mutt seer Shivarathri Deshikendra Swami, JSS Mahavidyapeetha executive secretary C G Betsurmath and the college principal M G Vijendrakumar were present on the occasion.
