Hello and welcome to Sportstar’s LIVE coverage of WPL 2023 Match 11 between DC-W vs RCB-W. Stay tuned as we bring you all the latest updates from Mumbai.
Preeti Bose strikes and she removes Capsey who hits straight to Perry at deep mid-wicket. RCB has another breakthrough but they need to pick wickets in a cluster to make a match out of this game. Delhi needs 106 runs from 90 balls and with Lanning and Jemimah at the crease, Delhi is in a relatively comfortable position.
Megan Schutt strikes early and Shafali Verma falls for a duck. The Delhi Capitals opener hasn’t been in great form and her aggressive approach has cost Delhi Capitals as her flick goes a miss with the ball crashing onto the leg stump.
Ellyse Perry stood out with a fine unbeaten half-century (67, 52b, 4*4, 5*6) and propelled Royal Challengers Bangalore to 150 for the loss of four wickets. Sophie Devine and Richa Ghosh were the other notable contributors as the top-order got starts but failed to convert into big ones. Shikha Pandey starred with the ball taking three wickets and Delhi Capitals will look for a good start in chase of 151.
A scoop that went wrong and Richa Ghosh departs for a well-made 37 off 16 balls. Meg Lanning takes a successful review and replays confirm there is a spike as Bhatia takes a clean catch to push Bangalore further on the backfoot.
Ellyse Perry has reached her half-century in 45 balls and along with Richa Ghosh has taken RCB past the 100-run mark. But Delhi has been on top with their bowling performance. Perry has been batting well and is approaching her half-century. This
Tara Norris strikes and she removes Knight as the batter walks across only to hit straight to the fielder at short fine leg. Shikha Pandey takes a good catch and RCB is in trouble.
Heather Knight and Ellyse Perry are tying to up the ante but Delhi Capitals has been brilliant in their bowling. Norris and Yadav have been bowling well in tandem and have kept the pressure on the RCB batters.
Lovely bowling from Shikha Pandey as she picks her second wicket and this time she castles Sophie Devine with a full delivery. Devine goes for an ambitious shot and the ball sneaked past the bat and pad and castles the leg stump.
Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine are trying to rebuild the innings after Smriti Mandhana fell early in the innings. The bowling has been good from Delhi’s point of view with Tara Norris and Radha Yadav operating in tandem. The current run-rate is 4.75 and that sums up the excellent bowling attack from Dehi.
Shikha Pandey strikes on arrival and she removes RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana. Back of length delivery and Mandhana went for the pull but hits it straight into the hands of Jemimah Rodrigues, who was stationed at deep square leg boundary. Good start from Delhi Capitals.
It’s been a nice start from Delhi Capitals as they haven’t allowed the Bangalore batters to get away with the game. Devine and Mandhana have been swinging their bat but haven’t been able to penetrate the gaps through the off-side. The scorecard is ticking as Bangalore is off to a cautious start.
Sophie Devine and Smriti Mandhana are off the mark with Devine getting off the mark with a cracking shot through point. Delhi employs spin very early with Alice Capsey testing the Bangalore openers.
Marizanne Kapp starts well with her medium pace with Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine opening the batting for Royal Challengers Bangalore. A maiden to start with as Smriti is yet to get off the mark, having faced the first over, Top start from Kapp and Delhi Capitals.
“It has not been the start anyone wanted. In franchise cricket, things turn around very quickly. If we can get a bit of momentum, hopefully we can carry on. Confident that we can turn things around quickly. We are confident in what we are doing and we have to put it out there in the park. I don’t think our planning or our efforts is something we need to worry about, it is about execution. As a staff, we are really confident we can do that. (On Sophie Devine’s form) She is an amazing player - really destructive. She can take the game away from anyone in the world. We just need someone else to stand up and add to her (runs). we have seen glimpses of it but we just need someone else to stand up as well.”

Delhi Capitals wins toss, opts to bowl first
“When I look at this stadium I think there’s a lovely coverage of grass right around. There’s a slight difference in terms of dimensions, 5-6 meters between the two square boundaries. The pitch is firm and it has a nice coverage of grass as well. I get excited because it brings the seamers into play and Kapp bowled superbly on this. Kapp used her variations quite well and was rewarded for it. I think she’s going to exploit that tonight as she has found the weakness on this pitch. Batters will need to apply themselves, spending time will be important. It might not be about the spinners as much tonight as about the seamers, particularly in the first six overs.”

Having lost all its four matches so far, RCB’s playoffs prospects are dim. However, playing its first game in Navi Mumbai, it will hope a change in venue results in a change in fortune as well.
