Panaji: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has informed that from the ensuing academic year 2023-24, there will be only one SSC as well as HSSC exam held in March/ April, and the term-wise exam pattern would be discontinued.
The Goa Board stated that the two-exam pattern was introduced during the corona pandemic. It also informed that with the other educational boards like the Central Board of Secondary Education and the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education have also decided to do away with the two-exam pattern, the Goa Board is following their decision.
Meanwhile, the second term/ final HSSC examination to be conducted by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will commence from March 15 and end on March 31.
A total of 19,807 candidates – 9,932 boys and 9,875 girls – will be appearing for this exam. Altogether 5,066 students have registered for arts stream, 6,079 for the commerce stream, 5,381 for the science stream and 3,281 for the vocational stream.
The examination will be conducted at 20 examination centres across the state.
The exam will commence at 9.30 in the morning, everyday, for science, commerce and arts streams except on March 20, March 23 and March 27.
The exam for the vocational stream papers will, however, be starting at 12 noon.
As per the Goa Board circular, the result will be finalised based on the performance of the students at the first term as well as the second term exam.
“No separate mark sheets will be issued for first term and second term exams,” it informed, adding that from the ensuing academic year 2023-24, there will be only one exam held in March/ April, and term-wise exam will be discontinued from the same academic year.
