Stage is set for voting in teachers' constituency MLC election today

HYDERABAD: The stage is set for the crucial Mahabubnagar-Hyderabad-Rangareddy Teachers' constituency MLC polls on Monday with the Election Commission completing all arrangements. Polling will be held from 8 am to 4 pm.
There are around 29,720 teachers registered as voters. The teachers' constituency falls under the jurisdiction of nine districts - Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet, Nagarkurnool, Jogulamba-Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Hyderabad.
GHMC additional commissioner (legal and revenue) and returning officer, Priyanka Ala, inspected the distribution centre set up at GHMC headquarters on Sunday and said arrangements were complete.
Priyanka told election staff to examine the statutory and non-statutory documents and voters’ list. Around 137 polling sta- tions have been set up, including 22 polling centres in Hyderabad dis- trict. Twelve sectoral officers and 29 observers have been appointed.
Around 739 polling personnel have been deployed for poll duty. “Police security arrangements, adequate infrastructure, drinking water and ramps for those with special needs are in place at the polling stations,” said Priyanka.
