Man assaults traffic cop in Mumbai, held; 2 booked
The police arrested a 53-year-old man for manhandling a traffic constable after the latter stopped him for allegedly jumping a traffic signal in Kurla on Saturday.
MUMBAI: The police arrested a 53-year-old man for manhandling a traffic constable after the latter stopped him for allegedly jumping a traffic signal in Kurla on Saturday.
Two unidentified men have also been booked for allegedly slapping the constable. Police arrested Mahim resident, Khalid Vasaikar, for allegedly threatening the traffic constable, Rakesh Thakur, 36, and abusing him.
Thakur noticed that Vasaikar, who was riding a scooter, had jumped the traffic signal and stopped him. While he was talking to Vasaikar, more people gathered at the spot. The incident took place at around 5pm near Kurla bus depot traffic signal on the LBS Road.
In a video of the incident, unidentified men can be seen fighting with the constable and even pushing him. Police said that the two unidentified men also argued and abused Thakur.
