Over 1.2K child labourers rescued in Kashi since 2017

Varanasi: The ongoing government’s campaign against child labour in UP is showing its impact in Varanasi. Under this campaign, not only child labourers are being rescued but those who employ them are also being nailed. So far, 1,218 child and adolescent labourers have been rescued in Varanasi itself after Yogi Adityanath government came into power in 2017. Besides, legal action has also been taken against 565 people in this regard.
Assistant labour commissioner, Devvrat Yadav said that continuous action is being taken for the rescue of child labour in Varanasi. Till now, action has been taken against 565 people by freeing 69 child labourers and 1,145 juvenile labourers, he said.
