FC Goa, Churchill Bros play drab draw

FC Goa and Churchill Brothers FC Goa played out a goalless draw in the CAM Goa Professional League (Super League) match held at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa.

The game was closely contested as both teams gave their all to secure a win. However, neither team could manage to score a goal throughout the 90 minutes.

FC Goa coach Deggie Cardozo started with Jordan Borges as a striker and Lalremruata HP, Malsawmtluanga, and Vellington Fernandes supporting in the midfield. The in-form keeper Hritik Tiwari was preferred in the goal. On the other hand, Churchill Brothers coach Keenan Almeida opted for Trijoy Dias as the lone striker with Pushkar Prabhu, Mackenzie Fernandes, and Hayden Fernandes in the centre.

FC Goa coach made five substitutions in the second half bringing on Vasim Inamdar, Aditya Salgaonkar, Mevan Dias, Velroy Fernandes, and Shanon Viegas. However, none of the changes made any impact as both teams struggled to break the
deadlock.

Churchill Brothers made two changes as Aaron Bareto and Malsawmdawngkima were introduced in the second half. But both strikers failed to make any significant impact on the game.

FC Goa’s Lalremruata HP and Vasim went into the referee’s books while Churchill Bros’ Trijoy Dias was also booked. With this result, FC Goa moved to 21 points from 13 games while Churchill Brothers FC collected 18 points from 13 matches.

Overall, it was an intense and hard-fought encounter between two evenly matched teams. Although both teams would have hoped for a win, they can be satisfied with a hard-earned point each.
