Protestors manhandled in Punjab's Sangrur as police prevent them crossing barricades near CM's residence

PATIALA: A number of protestors under banner of selected 4,161 master cadre union held a protest near Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann's residence in Sangrur on Saturday over their demand to get the allotment of stations to them as they got joining letters in January.
The police in Sangrur resorted to "use of force" to disperse off the protestors. The protestors claimed that two women were injured as police used the force to push them back and also resorted mild lathi-charge. Though, the police has denied resorting to lathi-charge but claimed of only pushing back the protestors who tried to cross the barricading and reach near the CM's residence.
The protesting teachers raised anti-government slogans and claimed that they would intensify the protest in case the government failed to allot them stations.
Sandeep Gill, union leader said that the government has befooled them by giving them appointment letters but not allotting the stations for joining.
"Two of our protestors faced mild injuries. The administration first tried to get a meeting fixed for us with the senior government officials but we denied following which they talked to the education department authorities at Chandigarh and assured us to resolve our matter within ten days. If government fails to meet our demand then we would protest on March 23 at Anandpur Sahib in Ropar in front of Education Minister's residence," said Gill.
