Jaipur: Former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot said on Saturday that rules regarding government jobs to the martyrs’ kin were amended earlier and can be amended further as well.
Speaking after a protest against the state government by the widows of the soldiers killed in the 2019 Pulwama attack intensified for the alleged non-fulfilment of the promises made to them, Pilot said, “Politics on ‘virangana’ (widows of martyrs) is wrong. It will send a wrong message. The issue of one-two job is not big. Rules were amended earlier, and they can be amended further as well.”
“We should try to listen to them peacefully and give answers that gives them satisfaction. We should do whatever work we can. This is a matter related to the ministry of home affairs of the government of India, but till now there is no dialogue or way of the solution has been shown from there. However, nobody should play politics on this sensitive issue,” Pilot told reporters on the second day of his visit to his constituency of Tonk. He said those who made supreme sacrifice for the nation are the pride of the whole nation.
Several BJP leaders and workers were detained by the police in Jaipur on Saturday during their protest against CM Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government in the state over the matter of outcry by the three martyrs’ widows. Heavy police deployment was done in Jaipur in view of the massive protest. The protesting BJP leaders and workers raised slogans against the Gehlot government, accusing it of insulting the widows. Congress leader and minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas said, “We respect Dr Meena. It is not a BJP vs Congress thing.
Rajasthan government is with the families of the martyrs.”ANI
