Jaisalmer: Police at Balotara station in Barmer district have arrested two persons for running a betting racket involving cricket matches through WhatsApp.
The police have recovered two mobile phones and a list of accounts from the accused, Barmer SP Digant Anand said.
The SP said that a team was formed after information was received of an online betting racket. The police team caught hold of a man who identified himself as Mohan Lal (32), resident of Kitnod in Jasol police station area. He showed police a master ID on one of his mobile phones and on another mobile phone ID-passwords and online links that were sent to people on WhatsApp to place bets.
The man revealed that he worked for Harish Mali, a resident of Balotra, who paid him Rs 15,000 per month. Police then arrested Mali from Balotra and he is being interrogated, said SP Anand. TNN
