Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar on Sunday showered praises on newly-elected Kasba Peth MLA Ravindra Dhangekar, calling him a people’s MLA, at a rally held in the city.
“Dhangekar is a people’s MLA. He is well-connected with the masses. He is easily accessible and is a very active leader,” said Pawar while felicitating the Congress leader.
“He has good rapport with leaders and workers of all parties. This helped him in his victory,” he added.
Pawar said that during the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi’s (MVA) survey of Kasba and Chinchwad assembly seats, the alliance had received positive reports. “The reports said we will win both the seats. However, due to division of votes, we lost Chinchwad seat,” he said.
Pawar said MVA leaders will be holding joint meetings at different places in the state in days to come. “Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray will address a rally in Pune on May 14,” he said.
About CM Eknath Shinde, Pawar said, “One group of 40 MLAs left the Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray. However, even 85-year-old citizens are asking them as to why they left the Sena…If you once fall from public eye, you fall forever…The Shinde group is experiencing this.”
Former Congress MLC Mohan Joshi and other leaders were also present at the rally.
