RANCHI: Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has geared up to provide water supply at multiple locations throughout the city as summer approaches.
The civic body will expand the number of water storage tankers to alleviate summertime water shortages in a total of 53 wards. It intends to deliver water beginning on April 15. However, depending on the circumstances, the supply may be started early in accordance with the wards' need.
The RMC will increase the number of tankers from the existing 30 as per demand. A civic body official said, "We will increase the number of tankers so that they can reach every corner of all wards as there are many slums with poor water facilities. This will help the residents and they won't face any water shortage. Every year, we begin delivering water through tankers in April, but, if required we will start it early."
Additional municipal commissioner Kunwar Singh Pahan said, "We have planned around 50 additional water storage tankers for RMC wards that lack water facility. The number of tankers will be increased in accordance with demand."
RMC storekeeper Onkar Pandey said, "We have 30 tankers that have been properly maintained and are without any problems. Water is supplied to RMC wards during the summer, although we provide water year-round to other arid regions which falls on dry zones including Doranda, Pundag, Hindpiri, Kadru, and Hermu."
Those in need of water for personal consumption may book a tanker at www.perfectsolutionindia.com or by calling 8969929162.
Ward councillor from Harmu Arjun Ram said, "Individuals usually alert the ward councillors about their demand for water by contacting them. The councillors then write to the RMC about the requirements. The civic body then provides water in accordance with the areas' need. Unfortunately, the current supplies are insufficient to meet demand, and there is a need to increase the number of tankers supplied to each region."
