Mysuru: Kannada filmmaker Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar on Friday said that enthusiasm to make films with social responsibility is a must for a filmmaker.
He was speaking after inaugurating the national-level documentary festival ‘Cinerama’ organised by the department of visual communication at Amrita Vidyapeetham here. “Cinema, being a powerful media of visual communication attracts a larger number of audience, and gets more attention than other mediums. People interested in cinema and visual communication must read literature (books) that deal with social issues. Gaining knowledge on theatre will be an added advantage. Having a proper film production
budget plan is also crucial,” he added.
“Just like visual arts, communication is also becoming a commodity in this market-driven society. Knowledge of film production, and marketing techniques are a must to be successful,” he said.
Actor Mandya Ramesh advised visual communication students to put all their efforts, hard work, talent and skills in the documentary production process as it will be a stepping stone for their career. He also wanted budding film directors to update themselves with knowledge and technology to keep pace with rapidly changing society.
