Swami Anand Swaroop, President of the Shankaracharya Trust, on Saturday said that "if someone dares to attack sacred cows and temples, lynching would take place." Anand Swaroop added that "theft is forbidden in Islam, and if someone dares to do it his/her hands would be cut." Swaroop was reacting to the death of a Muslim man who was allegedly lynched by a mob on suspicion of carrying beef in Bihar's Siwan district on Friday. Speaking about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Anand Swaroop said that "he has insulted our country by going to Europe. India has already faced cruelty of Britishers for many years. It is not good to oppose India in order to oppose Narendra Modi."
