UPDATE: Mar. 11, 2023, 5:20 a.m. EST This story has been updated with the latest and greatest laptop deals. Here's a quick look:

The only thing better than a great laptop is a great laptop that's within your budget. Nowadays, even cheap PCs pack the specs to help you tackle whatever's on your to-do list, whether it's work, school assignments, watching Netflix, or just endlessly browsing social media. If you're looking to pick up a new laptop (but don't necessarily want to wipe your savings account in one go), we're compiling a weekly list of the best deals on laptops across major retailers right here. Read on for our top picks as of March 11 (categorized by price, then listed in alphabetical order).

Laptop deals under $300

This is prime territory for entry-level Chromebooks with Intel Celeron N Series processors, embedded MultiMediaCard (eMMC) flash storage, and 11- to 14-inch displays that are geared toward light multitasking.

Why we like it

Customer reviewers(Opens in a new tab) have mostly excellent things to say about this 11.6-inch laptop's battery life, lightweight design, and overall value. It's worth noting that it comes equipped with Windows 11 Home in S Mode, which is a variant of the operating system designed for security and speed that'll only let you install apps from the Microsoft Store. This makes it meh for power users but great for kids and students. It retails for $249 on the ASUS website, but you can order it off Amazon for $199.99, or 20% off. That's its lowest price(Opens in a new tab) there to date.

Laptop deals under $600

A bit of a catch-all, this price range often includes bare-bones gaming laptops, upgraded Chromebooks, and 2-in-1 PCs with solid-state drive (SSD) storage and 15- to 17-inch displays.

Why we like it

Coming in at just $479.99, or 29% off its $679.99 MSRP, this beefy general-purpose laptop from HP nabs you a decent amount of storage and a massive, streaming-ready screen for the money.

Think Samsung Galaxy Books, Microsoft Surface Laptops, and older-generation Apple MacBook Airs on sale.

Why we like it

If you're not into the idea of spending over $1000 on the Galaxy Book3 360, last year's Galaxy Book2 line more than gets the job done. The sAMOLED touchscreen helps make it a laptop/tablet combo powerhouse, alongside the i7 processor and 18 hours of battery life. Last week, it was full price, making this $250 markdown a great deal.

Here's where you'll find souped-up gaming laptops from Dell and ASUS, newer Apple MacBooks, and other workhorses with couple-hundred-dollar discounts.

Why we like it

Apple dropped a new 14-inch MacBook Pro this year, but the 2021 M1 Pro remains a heck of a workhorse. At $1,599, it's not only 20% off, but it's back down to its lowest price ever. If you're looking for a laptop that has the power to handle intense video editing without a hitch and the battery life to keep you from reaching for the charger every couple of hours, this MacBook Pro has got you covered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mashable's favorite all-round budget laptop is currently the ASUS VivoBook 15, a lightweight PC with a fingerprint sensor, a nice keyboard, a fast-charging feature, and a decently zippy processor. Amazon(opens in a new tab) happened to have it on sale for $340.77 at the time of writing (a 13% discount on its $389.99 MSRP), but we recommend hesitating before you smash "Add to Cart": It's been even cheaper there before.

There are several times a year when we see new record-low prices on laptops:

  • Around Amazon Prime Day, which generally happens in early July

  • During back-to-school sales in July and August

  • When retailers' Black Friday and holiday deals are in full swing from October to December

  • Whenever manufacturers announce next-generation models

With that in mind, keep an eye out for some additional price drops on older MacBooks as Apple embraces its M2 Pro and M2 Max chip era. More deals on more Galaxy Books are also inevitable now that Samsung's rolled out its new Galaxy Book3s.
