HYDERABAD: While BJP may have difficulty in finding candidates for the upcoming assembly elections outside Hyderabad, there is going to be stiff competition from all assembly segments in Greater Hyderabad where the party corporators had won 2020 GHMC elections.
With a majority of them eager to enter the fray in the assembly elections, the number of aspirants in some of the segments ranges from three to seven.
For instance, names of five party leaders are being talked about for Malkajgiri constituency. Former MLC N Ramchander Rao, Vivek Babu, corporator Rajyalakshmi and Sravan are among the leaders whose names are doing the rounds. A majority of the contenders belong to Brahmin community, which has a large population in segment.
Senior leader Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, BJP spokesperson, former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao's grandson NV Subhash, and a corporator are said to be keen to contest from Khairatabad assembly seat. Subhash has started campaigning in the constituency.
A list of names is doing the rounds for LB Nagar seat. Speculation is rife that Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay is keen to enter the fray from LB Nagar this time. Names of his close associate Manohar Reddy, GHMC BJP deputy floor leader Radha Dheeraj Reddy, Sama Ranga Reddy and Perala Sekhar are also in the reckoning.
Musheerabad, which was previously represented by Rajya Sabha MP K Laxman, is going to see several contenders vying for it. Five BJP corporators from this division are nursing ambitions to get the ticket.
Sanjay, Union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy and Laxman will select three candidates for each assembly segment and forward the list to the party leadership, which will select the candidate.
