LUCKNOW: Two miscreants conned a middle-aged woman for wearing ornaments and later robbed her of gold ornaments in Hazratganj police station area in a broad daylight incident on March 7. The incident came to light on Friday.
The woman identified as Saroj Narula (51) of Narahi had gone to administer tetanus injection at SPM hospital on Park Road. On the way, a man gave her a call asking her to stop. He explained further that a theft had taken place at a house in the area and wearing of ornaments under these conditions may cost him a penalty. He asked the woman to put off the ornaments and keep all of these in her bag.
Nervous at this, Saroj put off her ornaments and intended to put them in her bag when one of them gave her a piece of paper asking to keep the ornament wrapped in it. “Soon as she put her ornaments in the piece of paper, both of them took the ornaments and fled the scene,” said victim’s son Sagar Narula.
SHO, Hazratganj, Akhilesh Mishra said that an FIR under the charges of cheating has been registered and a probe is underway.
