GURGAON: Seven people have been arrested for allegedly shooting at Monu Yadav, the national secretary of Sanyukt Ahir Regiment Morcha, on March 2. Police said the attack was the fallout of a rivalry between Monu and some residents of his village.
The accused have been identified as Naveen (the mastermind) and his six friends - Manoj alias Katappa, Sunil, Krishan, Kamal alias Bhoop, Naveen alias Doctor and Sukhbir alias Miniya.
Police have recovered one pistol, two live bullets and sticks and seized an SUV from the possession of the accused.
ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan said that Naveen and his friends had a fight with Monu and his followers during a protest on February 19, following which the Morcha leader had complained to the police.
"The registration of an FIR enraged Naveen. On March 2, the seven accused shot at Monu. The attack left him badly injured."
An FIR was lodged under sections 148 (riots), 149 (unlawful assembly), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (causing hurt) and 427 (causing damage) of IPC at Kherki Daula police station.
"On March 6, our men nabbed Naveen, Manoj and Sunil. Three days later, we arrested Krishna, Kamal, Doctor and Sukhbir. Naveen, the main accused, and Manoj were produced in a court and taken into three-day remand," the ACP said.
